What this bill does

Expands the definition of "family member" in Washington's Paid Sick Leave Law, allowing employees to use paid sick leave to care for additional specified persons experiencing a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition, or needing medical diagnosis, treatment, or preventative care. Allows an employee to use paid sick leave when the employee's child's school or place of care has been closed due to a weather or public emergency.
