ESSB 6002 — Concerning driver privacy protections.

What this bill does

Prohibits the use of automated license plate reader (ALPR) systems by all state and local government agencies except those explicitly authorized to use ALPR systems for specified purposes. Prescribes retention periods for ALPR data collected by authorized agencies and limits the sharing of ALPR data. Sets forth registration, reporting, and audit requirements and specifies prohibited uses of ALPR systems.
