SSB 5936 — Concerning prevention of and remedies for human trafficking.

What this bill does

Limits prosecution of a business for the offenses of Trafficking and Coercion of Involuntary Servitude to certain conduct by the business, employees, or agents, and allows the court to impose additional penalties. Requires law enforcement and prosecutors to keep a Trafficking or Coercion of Involuntary Servitude victim's information confidential, and creates an exemption to disclosure of that information under the Public Records Act. Requires certifying agencies to notify an applicant of its decision for a T or U visa form and allow the applicant to submit additional evidence.
