What this bill does
Doubles the base penalties for second and subsequent infractions of the following: Following Too Closely, Speeding Too Fast for Conditions, Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limit by more than 10 miles per hour, Negligent Driving in the second degree, Failure to Properly Wear a Safety Belt, and Violation of Child Restraint Requirements. Authorizes a court to waive the doubling of base penalties for second and subsequent infractions. Doubles the base penalty for using a personal electronic device while driving in a school, playground, or crosswalk speed zone.
