What this bill does
Raises the allowable level of lead in cookware and cookware components from 5 parts per million to 10 parts per million, beginning January 1, 2026. Amends the scope of restrictions on lead in cookware, including by adding metal-containing utensils and griddles to restrictions, and by removing refrigerators, certain large appliances, and inaccessible components of cookware from lead restrictions. Requires the Department of Ecology to develop guidance for manufacturers related to lead in cookware restrictions.
