What this bill does
Requires insurers to send written notice of termination of coverage and the three-year right to reinstatement of the policy, to the policyholder and any third-party designee on the account, at least 30 days before terminating coverage under an individual life insurance policy. Requires the insurer to obtain, and upon request, demonstrate proof of delivery for each notice the insurer sends under the requirement, with permissible proof of delivery specified by the bill. Requires insurers that deliver or issue an individual life insurance policy to notify the applicant, in writing at the time of the application, of the right to designate a third party to receive notice of lapse or cancellation of the policy based on nonpayment of a premium and the three-year right to reinstatement of the policy. Excludes certain types of life insurance policies from the requirements.
