ESHB 2192 — Updating the role of the Washington traffic safety commission in identifying the risk factors that lead to roadway fatalities.

What this bill does

Designates the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (Commission) as a public health authority and authorizes it to collect health care information for use in conducting traffic fatality and serious injury reviews. Authorizes the Commission to convene a fatality review committee to review crash information where a traffic fatality or serious injury has occurred, and to publish reports summarizing trends, contributing factors, and policy and program recommendations. Exempts driver licensing records, health care information, and other confidential information obtained by the Commission for these purposes from public inspection and copying.
