What this bill does

Allows cities planning under the Growth Management Act to operate self-certification programs through which registered architects can certify compliance with applicable building codes for the construction or development of detached accessory dwelling units. Requires self-certification programs to adhere to rules adopted by the Department of Commerce (Department) and specifies minimum requirements that must be included in the rules. Requires the Department to create a standardized self-certification form for optional use by cities with self-certification programs. Provides reporting requirements for cities with self-certification programs, and requires the Department to annually post a summary of the reports online.
